DESCRIPTION:RCJ 23rd Charter Day & Installation Ceremony – A Celebration of Service\, Leadership & Legacy! \nThe Rotary Club of Jawalakhel (RCJ) proudly hosted its 989th Regular Meeting alongside the grand celebration of its 23rd Charter Day & Installation Ceremony on 25th June 2025 at Square Hotel\, Lalitpur. \n  \nThe event was graced by Chief Guest DGE Rtn. Binod Koirala\, Past District Governors (Council of District Governors)\, Assistant Governors\, district officials\, fellow Rotarians from RCJ and its sponsor clubs\, Rotaractors from the Rotaract Club of Jawalakhel and NNH\, staff of RI 3292 \,and  family members and friends of the incoming President. \n  \nThe ceremony was eloquently emceed by PP Rtn. Dr. Birendra Raj Pokhrel.The program was started on the chairmanship of President Rtn. Raman Uprety. \n  \n✨ Highlights of the Celebration: \nOn behalf of RCJ \, A heartfelt tribute was paid by Rtn. Manju Karki in memory of late Charter President  and other departed Rotarians of RCJ\, followed by a moment of silence for world peace. \n  \nPresident Rtn. Raman Uprety delivered an inspiring thank-you address\, expressing deep gratitude for the support received throughout RY 2024–2025. A detailed presentation of RCJ’s achievements of RY 2024-2025 was shared by Club Secretary Rtn. Hari Prasad Adhikari. \n  \nContribution and support recognizing\, including the Secretary\, few members and  two Charter Members\, were honored with Certificates and Tokens of Appreciation by President Uprety for their dedicated support during RY 2024–2025. \n  \nPresident Rtn. Raman Uprety handed over the President’s Collar\, Gavel\, Gong and DGE Rtn. Binod Koirala handed over the  Charter Certificate to incoming President Rtn. Shobha Lamichhane. \n  \nDGE Rtn. Binod Koirala administered the Oath of Office\, officially installing President Rtn. Shobha Lamichhane for RY 2025–2026. In her motivational acceptance speech\, she emphasized fundraising\, impactful service\, and shared her inspiring vision for the Rota Year 2025-2026. She also introduced the club officials and handed over the contribution amount Cheque NPR 100 thousands to the RCJ. \n  \nSpecial felicitations were delivered by PDG Rtn. Jaya RL Shah and PP Rtn. Padam Lal Shrestha. A touching moment came from the 96-year-old father of the incoming President\, who reminded all of the value of health\, fitness\, and food. \n  \nIn his keynote address\, Chief Guest DGE Rtn. Binod Koirala introduced his three strategic pillars for RY 2025–2026:  Innovation \, Continuity  &  Partnership \nA joint memento presentation to the Chief Guest and a ceremonial cake-cutting added warmth and joy to the celebration\, marking 23 remarkable years of Rotary service. \n  \nHeartfelt thanks to all dignitaries\, guests\, Rotarians\, family members\, and Rotaractors who made the day truly special. SUMMARY:National Peace Dialogue
DESCRIPTION:National Peace Dialogue entitled ‘State capacity and commitment in peace promotion’ was completed on 21 September 2024\, on the International Peace Day of UN with the theme of ‘culture of peace’. Jorganized by the Peace and Conflict Transformation Sub-Committee of Rotary International District 3292 Nepal-Bhutan\, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Jawalakhel and Public Policy Hub in Kathmandu. Dr. Bishnu Raj Upreti\, chairperson of the Peace and Conflict Transformation Sub-Committee of Rotary International District 3292 Nepal-Bhutan (PCRSC) had chaired and facilitated the programme. The keynote speakers of the programme were Professor Dr. Lekhnath Sharma\, Executive Chairperson of Policy Research Institute; Hon. Member of Parliament Mr. Santosh Pariyar\, House of Representatives; Dr. Bimala Rai Paudel\, former Foreign Minister of Nepal; Dr. Rajesh Aahiraj\, former Chief of Madhesh Province. Mr. Yadab Humagain\, PhD Scholar presented a thematic paper on policy capacity based on his study of Nepal\, Bhutan\, India\, China\, Rwanda and Uganda.\n\n\nDistrict Governor (DG) Mr. Rajendra Man Serchan highlighted the role of Rotary International in promoting peace by establishing seven Rotary Peace Centers across the world for building sustainable peace. He had emphasized on promoting peace through schools and students.\n\n\nMore than 115 distinguished personalities had attend the event. Some of them are: three Inspector Generals (retd.) of Armed Police Force of Nepal Mr. Sailendra Khana\, Mr. Singh Bhadur Shrestha and Mr. Pusparam KC; Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University Prof Dr. Bhola Thapa; Civil Society Leaders (Mrs Bharati Silwal-Giri\, Mr. Subodh Pyakuryal\, Mr Shobhakar Budathoki\, Mr. Raja Kuikel)\, AIG of Nepal Police Narayan Bahadur Thapa\, Academicians (Dr\, Chandra Lal Pandey-KU\, Prof. Dr. Govinda Nepal\, former NPC member\, Dr. Pramila Thapa\, former Registrar-Purbanchal Uni.; Prof. Laya Upreti\, TU) Dr Lalbabu Yadhav\, advisor of the then President and CA member; former ambassadors (Ksailash Pokharel\, Yadav Khanal\, Dr. Mahesh Maskey\, Vijaya Kanta Karna\, Dr. Bishnu Hari Nepal\, Niranjan Man Singh Basnet)\, former secretaries of government of Nepal (Ram Thapaliya\, Gopi Mainali\, Punya Prasad Nepane\, Yubaraj Bhusal); Generals (rtd.) of Nepal Army (Keshar Bahadur Bhandari\, Debendra medhasi\, Gokul Bhadari)\, former AIGs of APF.\n\n\nThe debate was quite intense and identified the key policy capacity parameters as knowledge\, skills\, political commitments\, ethical and moral power\, system thinking\, institutional responsiveness and leadership.

SUMMARY:Community Assembly at Badhikel
DESCRIPTION:The “Women Skill Development Project” is currently being executed by the Rotary Club of Jawalakhel through the global grant GG2235008 in Godawari Municipality\, Badhikhel\, Lalitpur. The Rotary Club of Peterborough\, Canada\, is supporting as the international partner Rotary Club for this Global Grant. The project’s objective is to provide certified vocational training in tailoring\, Montessori\, baking\, junior plumbing\, building electricity\, bricklayer masonry\, and poultry farming\, benefiting a total of 140 women. \nOn April 21\, 2024\, a Community Assembly was held at Badhikel Godawari to distribute CTEVT certificates to the vocational trainees who successfully passed the exam of CTEVT\, National Skill Testing Board (NSTB). Rtn. Marie Press from RC Peterborough attended as a special guest. The event was graced by the presence of the Deputy Mayor of Godawari as the chief guest\, the Ward Chairperson as a guest\, along with twelve Rotarians from RC Jawalakhel\, vocational trainees\, trainers\, representatives from seven vocational training institutes\, and teachers and students of Path Pradarshak Secondary School\, Badhikhel. The chief guest\, special guest\, other guests\, and RCJ officials delivered felicitation speeches\, congratulating the trainees and expressing gratitude to everyone who supported the success of this project in Badhikhel. \nRCJ appreciated the RC Peterborough\, Godawari Municipality\, ward chairperson of Godawari Municiaplity-4\, Badhikel\, trainers\, and vocational training institutes with tokens of love for their collaboration\, cooperation\, and support. The Deputy Mayor provided appreciation certificate to RC Jawalakhel and RC Peterborough on behalf of the municipality\, recognizing RCJ and RC Peterborough efforts in enabling 140 women to receive vocational skill training. This training will ultimately help these women secure formal employment and self-employment opportunities in the future. A few trainees have already been employed\, which is a sign of the project’s success. RCJ president Dr. Bishnu Raj Upreti delivered vote of thanks speech and thanks to the local government\, RC Peterborough\, Rotarians of RCJ\, Trainees\, Training institutes\, Trainers\, community people and everyone who are associated. SUMMARY:Girls Toilet Handover & School Health Screening
DESCRIPTION:Rotary Club of Jawalakhel constructed a girls’ toilet at Path Pradarshak Secondary School\, Godawari Municipality ward-4\, Badhikhel with the support of Rotary Club of Peterborough\, Canada. On 21st April 2024\, the newly constructed girl’s toilet officially handover by Rtn. Marie Press from RC Peterborough\, and Dr. Bishnu Raj Upariti\, RCJ President in presence of Deputy Mayor of Godawari Municipality\, Ward Chairperson of Godawari Municipality-4\, the school principal\, teachers\, community people\, students and Rotarians of Rotary Club of Jawalakhel (RCJ. The sanitary pad disposal machine also installed at girls’ toilet. On the same day\, a school health screening camp was conducted at school\, including eye and dental screenings along with a health awareness session for the students and teachers. Over 200 students benefited from the health screening camp. SUMMARY:RCJ Recognition – 16th District Conference
DESCRIPTION:Service Project Showcase \nThe Rotary Club of Jawalakhel (RCJ) is thrilled to announce its first-place achievement in the club’s stall and service projects exhibition at the RI 3292 16th District Conference\, held from March 15-17\, 2024\, in Butwal. RCJ presented three impactful projects during the event. Among them was the Women Skill Development Global Grant project\, which\, with the generous support of the Rotary Club of Peterborough\, Canada\, provided training in coordination. Additionally\, our service project involved the handover of USG/ECG equipment to health centers in six different districts of Nepal. This initiative has benefited over 100\,000 patients by facilitating timely diagnosis and referrals\, thanks to the collaboration of five Rotary clubs from four countries\, including the Rotary Club of Quimper-Odet\, France. \nAnother notable project was an inter-school speaking contest titled “My Career Vision\,” which engaged 28 ninth-grade students from nine schools within the Lalitpur Metropolitan area. \nService Project Video \nRCJ also received Consolation prize on service project video\, the service project video was“ Women Skill Development Project” is being executed by the Rotary Club of Jawalakhel through the global grant GG2235008 in Godawari Municipality\, Badhikhel\, Lalitpur. The Rotary Club of Peterborough\, Canada\, is working with us as an international partner Club for this Global Grant. The project’s objective is to provide certified vocational training in tailoring\, Montessori\, baking\, junior plumbing\, building electricity\, bricklayer masonry\, and poultry farming\, benefiting a total of 140 women.

DESCRIPTION:January 6\, 2024 \nRotary Club of Jawalakhel (RCJ)\, in collaboration with Universal Engineering and Science College (UESC)\, and Rotaract Clubs of Jawalakhel and Nepal National Hospital\, conducted a ‘Computer Competency Training’. Held at the UESC Computer Lab\, the training aimed at enhancing PowerPoint skills and was attended by 38 participants from the Rotaract clubs and UESC. Led by Dr. Bhesh Raj Thapa\, UESC Principal\, and organized by IT expert Mr. Surendra Neupane\, the event received positive feedback\, with requests for more advanced training in the future. This session marks the Rotary Club’s ongoing commitment to improving computer literacy. President\, Secretary\, PP and Member of RCJ also present at the training program.

SUMMARY:Special Talk Program on “Current Economic Situation of Nepal”
DESCRIPTION:On the 10th December 2023 regular meeting\,  the Rotary Club of Jawalakhel\, organized a special talk progrmme inviting Mr. Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri\, former Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank and ex-Vice-Chairmn of the National Planning Commission of Nepal. Dr. Bishnu Raj Upreti\, president of the RCJ welcomed Mr. Chhetri and highlighted the need of such special topic to expand understanding and keep the RCJ members up-to-date on contemporary issues. \nMr. Chhetri shared in-depth insights on the various issues of current economic situation of the country such as foreign direct investment\, investment-friendly environment\, NRN investment in Nepal\, intellectual property rights\, credit rating\, the role of the central bank\, the role of donor agencies\, private sector engagement\, political interference\, and governance issues. He emphasized the importance of national unity among all parties in shaping national interests. In this context\, all parties mist have a common understanding and collective commitment on national economic policy\, national security policy\, and national security policy. Only then the favourable situation will be achieve economic development in Nepal. After the presentation by Mr. Chhetri\, RCJ members raised important questions and engaged in discussion. In addition to the RCJ members\, the event was also attended by AG Mr. T.N. Lohani\, presidents and vice presidents of sister clubs\, rotracts and other invited guests. \nThe Rotary Club of Jawalakhel expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri for accepting invitation of RCJ to talk on this crucial subject. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Anirudha Roychoudhary\, RRFC Rtn. Debashish Das\, and Keynote Speaker Regional Grants Officer Laura Bradley\, enriched the program with their knowledge and shared invaluable information. Our Club is eager to apply this information to our ongoing Global Grant Project and future projects for a positive community impact. \nA special moment for our Club\, PDG Rtn. Jaya Rajya Laxmi Shah was recognized for her contributions as AKS member and PP Rtn. Dr. Suniti Acharya also recognized\, for her contributions as Paul Harris Society (PHS) member. This reinforces our commitment to service above self\, and we look forward to continued collaboration for meaningful endeavors. Seven members of RCJ joined the program.

SUMMARY:Women Skill Development Project Visit
DESCRIPTION:The “Women Skill Development Project” is currently being executed by the Rotary Club of Jawalakhel through the global grant GG2235008 in Godawari Municipality\, Badhikhel\, Lalitpur. The Rotary Club of Peterborough\, Canada\, is serving as the international partner Rotary Club for this Global Grant. The project’s objective is to provide certified vocational training in tailoring\, Montessori\, baking\, junior plumbing\, building electricity\, bricklayer masonry\, and poultry farming\, benefiting a total of 140 women. \nOn November 5\, 2023\, Rtn. David Abramsky from the Rotary Club of Peterborough\, together with RCJ officials and members\, visited the global grant project site to observe the ongoing training activities and its outcome. A productive meeting took place at the project site involving each trainees from the seven training programs\, along with trainers\, consultants\, the ward chairperson\, and RC members. Rtn. Subash Pyakurel\, the primary contact for the global grant\, delivered a presentation on the progress of the vocational training and overall project activities and outlined the plan for the remaining activities. Trainees and the local ward chairperson expressed their deep appreciation for the opportunity to the women by provided for vocational training in their community. Additionally\, the trainees committed to utilizing their skills to increase their monthly income in the days to come. \n  \nRtn. Mr. David was impressed by the project site and the interactions with beneficiaries. He conveyed the Rotary Club of Peterborough\, Canada’s happiness in supporting and contributing to the empowerment of women in Nepal. \nThe Club President\, Rtn. Dr. Upreti\, highlighted the importance of allocating resources from the local government in coming days for the vocational training program and RCJ’s will also do best to finding potential resources for the project’s continuity after completion of Global grant. \nIn August 27\, 2023\, DG 3292 Rtn. Rajendra Prasad Dhoju\, accompanied by district officials\, visited the GG project site along with RCJ club officials and Rotarians. During this visit\, Rtn. Dhoju was deeply impressed with the global grant project and pledged his support\, mentioning that the District would specially recognize RCC Badhikhel President Ms. Nima Pahari in relevant district events. \nRtn. David’s and DG Rtn. Dhoju’s Global grant project site visit had a significant impact\, and the club expressed gratitude to the Rotary International\, international partner club RC Peterborough\, RI 3292\, RCJ service committee\, club members\, local government\, RCC\, trainers\, trainees\, and the community for their support in making the project successful.

SUMMARY:Global Grant Project site visit by RI 3292 DG
DESCRIPTION:Rotary Club of Jawalakhel is implementing a global grant (GG223508) “Women Skill Development Project” at Godavari Municipality\, Badhikhel\, Lalitpur. The Rotary Club of Peterborough\, Canada is the international partner Rotary Club. The project is targeted to 140 women beneficiaries by providing seven different types of certified vocational skill training.\nOn the 27 th of August 2023 morning\, it was the gracious presence of the DG Rt. Dhoju along with district officials\, RCJ club officials\, Rotarians\, and the Ward chairperson of the local government of respective ward office in the certificate handover to the trainees at the project site. The training completion certificate of the Montessori and Tailoring trainees was handed over by DG Rtn. Dhoju. The tailoring training trainees are excited to open their own tailoring shop and Montessori trainees have strong confidence that they will have an easy-to-get preschool teacher with this training and they also expressed that it helps to grow their own children too. DG Rt. Dhoju is very impressed with the global grant project and willing to support from RI district 3292 in the future and he also added that district 3292 will award women RCC Badhikel in a district 3292 DG award ceremony. Club president Rtn. Dr. Upreti highlighted the allocation of resources from the local government and RCJ will also try level\nbest to find resources for such kind of impactful project and its continued operations and sustainability. Ward chairperson Mr. Nagarakoti expressed sincere thanks for the project support and the presence of all the Rotarians on the project site. He also added on behalf of the local government and is willing to continue collaboration with RCJ in the future too. RCJ is proud to have service committee chair Dr. Subash Pyakurel and committee members are instrumental in the successful implementation of this global grant.

SUMMARY:RI 3292 DG visit & Club Assembly -2023/2024
DESCRIPTION:RI 3292 DG visit & Club Assembly  \nOn August 27\, 2023\, regular DG visited and a Club Assembly meeting was organized at Hotel View Brikuti\, Godavari.  District Governor Rtn. Rajendra Prasad Dhoju \, First Lady Mrs. Shrestha\, and district officials were with Rotarians of RCJ. There was a close meeting with RCJ officials along with DG and district officials. The club assembly meeting was started by DG and a presentation was given by all committee chairs/ members of RCJ. DG has given time to members for comments and later DG Rtn. Dhoju has given some significant comments and highlighted implementation of planned activities. The regular club meeting was started by the President\, one new member was inducted\, and recognition of PHF and MPHF pins to six RCJ members. The DG visit and club assembly are highly touched to be a vibrant Rotary club and play a vital role that the club is running under the Rotary International and District protocol.  DG Rtn. Dhoju has shared memories of working with PDG Rtn. Jaya Laxmi Shah and he expressed his deep appreciation for her mentorship and contribution to the Rotary global community. DG Rtn. Dhoju has committed his level best to support RCJ and a successful tenure as DG with the support of all RC and Rotarians. \n    \n
